Merry Christmas, everyone!
Sorry I haven't been around much this month, but it's been a roller coaster of one that hasn't left me much time to so much as turn on my computer, much less blog constructively, but I'll save that tale for another day. Until then, witness my big Christmas gift...finally asked for and received for better or worse. I've held out for a long time, but here it is at last...the dread Kindle (a Paperwhite - purely for reading, no additional distractions for the short attention-spanned). Bad picture quality brought to you by iPhone and my glare-y kitchen table.
Aw, but it is kind of cute, now, isn't it? And it might have proved itself by making it exceedingly easy for me to purchase and re-read a good chunk of The Hobbit immediately in the wake of seeing the movie yesterday. I could get used to this, I think. My TBR "pile"? Maybe not so much.
Anyhow, just thought I'd stop in between holiday meals and gatherings to wish you all a very Merry and assure you all that I have survived most of December despite reports to the contrary.
So, what did Santa leave under your tree?
It IS cute! I got one for Christmas last year and I've enjoyed it even more than expected. As for this year, I got a couple of books I've been looking forward to - will post a picture of the pile soon! Merry Christmas, Megan!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of your Kindle. I have a Nook Color so I won't become distracted by all the apps and things you can do on a tablet. This Christmas, I didn't buy myself anything really. My tbr shelves are already overflowing so I decided to treat myself to a mani/pedi instead. Wishing you peace, joy, and lots of reading this Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI hope you love it! Santa left me a new suitcase and a few other things. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you!!! Santa was way TOO good to me and left me a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer :D I held out on ereaders for awhile now, but I'm on my second Nook now, and honestly I love it! It hasn't stopped me from reading regular books at all…I tend to just keep one book going on my Nook and I can read it in bed with the lights out before I go to sleep :) And it's good for trips when you want to take a bunch of books with you! Enjoy it :D
ReplyDeleteMegan, I got a Kindle Paperwhite as well and love it. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, or perhaps some extra quiet time with a good book that you really enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too! Welcome to the e-reader world! I have two Nooks and an iPad and love them all. I hope you can get some quality time with your Kindle during the remaining few days of the year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays to you! Nice new ereader there... I have a Kobo & love it. As Chris says, so great for when you are on a trip. Much easier on the shoulders ;) Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my nook - but it took me a long time before I warmed up to the idea of it. Now I hardly ever read "real" books because of all the review opportunities via Net Galley and Edelweis. I, too, like my ereader to be solely for reading. If I wanted to check my FB status and do all of that other stuff - I don't think I'd ever get reading done! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year Megan! I have a Nook and really like it - I still read a lot of "real" books but slipping that little e-reader into my bag for the subway to work is so easy! Enjoy!
