I hated this book so much.
For one thing, I've always hated the YA heroes/heroines and the way they're portrayed as selfless and righteous.
The execution of this book was horrible; the idea was excellent, as was the Hunger Games, but the characters and story wasn't as much.
Not to mention he gave us countless foes so that I, at least, wasn't able to even begin to understand who was truly the bad guy. And honestly, half the enemies Vera and Will encounter don't seem that bad.
But the thing about this book that bothered me so much was Vera.
She's just about the most annoying character I've encountered. She's perfect. There are no flaws about her and honestly, every time they were captives I was praying someone would kill her instead of the hilariously stupid escapes they performed.Hannahnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1710818943922563736.post-58800030536166701882011-12-04T21:22:35.542-05:002011-12-04T21:22:35.542-05:00This book sounds good and yet the escapes would pr...This book sounds good and yet the escapes would probably get on my nerves. If I need some book candy, I'll pick up Water Wars. It does sound like something I would want to read, but I definitely do not want to spend money to obtain a copy. This sounds like a great library book. I don't read a lot of dystopian literature so a fast-paced, more exciting book with a fascinating premise such as this sounds like a good one for me.

This is a very thoughtful, intriguing review...Thank you!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09866342436745173619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1710818943922563736.post-91708652166245785702011-11-29T15:17:28.742-05:002011-11-29T15:17:28.742-05:00I think the premise of this book is spot on, but y...I think the premise of this book is spot on, but you're not the first to say the execution wasn't great.bermudaonionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726401178972099557noreply@blogger.com
